Protest seeking judicial action against conspirators making defamatory and baseless allegations on Saints of India!
Objectives and demands of the Satyagrah at Jantar Mantar
The Satyagrah was organized to protest against derogatory articles published by, Sandesh , a popular daily in the state of Gujarat on 10 November 2009 along with derogatory cartoon defaming the world renowned Indian saint, Sant Shree Asaramji Bapu which caused immense pain to the disciples of the revered Saint. There have been several instances of misreporting and denunciatory adjectives used by Sandesh to mislead, inflame and instigate against Asaramji Bapu and his Ashrams. It is obvious Sandesh published such derogatory articles on the saint to increase its readership and instigate.
In addition to the demands of action against Sandesh for its act of irresponsible reporting, ISO is also demanding quashing of the baseless FIR’s against the saint, also a narco-analysis of a self-professed conspirator - Raju Chandok and a CBI enquiry into the entire matter so that the truth is brought out to the public who hold the Saints of India in high regard and cannot tolerate any wrong done to such souls who have dedicated their lives to the service of humanity.
Accomplishments
The Dharna started by ISO lasted for 18 days culminating with a promise from the President’s office and Prime Minister’s office to take necessary action and investigate into the matter independently. ISO’s success lies in the fact that all the people arrested from Asaramji ashram, Ahmedabad without any charges were released even during the dharna period. Also Information and Broadcasting ministry directed Press council of India to take necessary action against Sandesh for irresponsible reporting based on groundless facts.
The agitation of the masses against the injustice meted out on this great Indian Saint is palpable in the way the crowd at the dharna multiplied from a modest 30 people on the first day to thousands from all over the country. Not only the common masses, but various Saints and leaders of organizations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (“RSS”) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (“VHP”), Bajrang Dal, community leaders and leaders of various political parties etc came and sat at the Dharna to show support for what has now become a war against Sanatan dharma.
Never had Jantar Mantar seen such a peaceful protest wherein for 18 days thousands of people assembled for a common cause. The volunteers followed the truly Gandhian method of Satyagraha as preached by Saints. The Saints across India condemned the incident and also made people chant the holy names of God and requested them to utilize the spiritual powers within them. The Saints not only made sure that the miscreants don’t cause any mayhem but also set an example on the way protest was conducted for 18 days. The appreciation poured in from none other than Police authorities who claimed they had only heard about Gandhiji’s Satyagraha but seen it only by ISO.
The Dharna organized by ISO has garnered support from various public figures like Congress leader and Finance Minister of Haryana , Captain Ajay Yadav, Mr Paras Rajput (Suraksha Pramukh, Bajrang Dal, Mumbai), Swami Rupeshwaranand ji (President, Hindu Raksha Dal), Ayodhya Prasad Tripathi (Manav Raksha Sangh) Mr Sunil Tyagi (President of Sri Ram Sena, Delhi), Sant Shri Gyaneshwaranandji, Rishikesh, Keshvanand Giri, Juna Akhara (representing the sadhus of Haridwar, Sadhvi Saraswati from Rewa (MP), Mr Suman Kumar(formerly Mr Robert Solomon), Rashtriya pracharak of RSS.
Paras Rajput, Suraksha Pramukh,Mumbai Bajrang dal appreciated seva activities of Asaramji Bapu’s ashram and compared Asaramji Bapu to the Great wall of China, who’s protecting the culture of India. Similar were the views expressed by Swami Rupeshwaranand ji (President, Hindu Raksha Dal) and Ayodhya Prasad Tripathi (Manav Raksha Sangh) who echoed similar feelings and felt that Asaramji Bapu is a pillar holding India and any attempts to cause harm to the pillar is a direct attempt to harm the integrity and sovereignty of India
Representing the saints of Haridwar, Sant Shri Gyaneshwarandndji maharaj said that “Such injustice will not be tolerated .Saints are the roots of society, which is the tree. Causing damage to the roots will cause irreparable damage to society and culture. He said this protest was akin to the beginning of a revolution. If the saints come to the roads then the conspirators and the administration supporting them will not survive the impact of the revolution. He asked for a fair investigation and for responsible media houses to bring out the truth”.
Mr Suman Kumar (formerly Mr Robert Solomon), Rashtriya pracharak of RSS who flew down all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia also expressed his disdain over how the media , administration and conspirators are actively involved in demeaning such a loved and renowned saint. He regarded Asaramji Bapui as God and said that it was the responsibility of everyone who loves the country to come forward and stand in support of the saints, who are the treasure of India.
Sadhvi Saraswati from Rewa (MP) condemned police atrocities in Asaramji Bapu’s ashram and said as Demons like Ravana and Kaurav came to an end similar fate awaits the people who are responsible for causing atrocities on the disciples of Bapuji. Appreciating the Gurukuls being run by Asaramji Ashram she said, great values are being inculcated in students of the gurukul and once the students of those gurukuls pass out, they are going to take India to new heights.
Congress leader and Finance Minister of Haryana , Captain Ajay Yadav said that he respects Asaramji Bapu a lot and whatever happened in Gujarat was wrong and Modi Government in Gujarat should get a fair investigation done and punish the one’s found guilty.
Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti vouched for Asaramji’s innocence in all charges leveled against him. In her address to the public she regarded Bapuji as her father. She said, Media is not above law. She asked the investigating agencies to consider several points in their investigation
1) If the children were killed in Ashram, would the bodies be deposed behind Ashram in open?
2) Raju Chandak, who has already accepted his role in the conspiracy can prove to be a important witness for Ashram. Why would Ashram try to get him killed?
3) The baseless land grabbing allegations being made against ashram should be investigated. Ashram has all valid land ownership documents and that can be validated instead if making baseless allegations.
She said, never in her tenure as CM of Madhya Pradesh, she received even a single complaint of any wrong doing by any disciple of Bapuji. She herself has been to several of Bapuji’s ashram and vouched for the seva activities done by Ashram for the welfare of poor and downtrodden.
Speaking about the uplifting activities carried out by Asaramji Bapu’s ashram in country, Mr Mateen Ahmed (Congress) MLA, Delhi and Shri Sahib Singh Chauhan, MLA, Delhi condemned the spate of recent activities against the great saint and said that it is indeed unfortunate that a saint working for the society is being repeatedly targeted and defamed. They condemned the Government’s inaction and asked for the Government to send their representatives to look into the matter and consider the demands of the protesters. MLA Ahmed questioned how a common man can expect justice when great injustice is being meted out on such a renowned and loved saint.
Government’s act of turning a blind eye to the demands made by ISO forced several disciples of Asaramji Bapui and saints to go on a Indefinite hunger Strike.
Such was the impact of ISO’s selfless efforts that community leaders also stood up with ISO felling the boundaries of religion proving that Saints are not bound in religion or caste and they are for everyone.
Imam of Rohini, Maulvi Hafis kasim expressed his anger and said such an act was an insult to all Saints. Member of Rashtriya Muslim manch , Md. Irfan Salmani said Muslim community regards Asaramji Bapu as a Fakir and they too consider Asaramji Bapu as their own and not only a Hindu saint. He said, saints carry the light of Allah and Bapuji is one such great saint. The whole muslim community stands beside ISO in this cause and wont tolerate any such allegations against Asaramji Bapu. Sikh community leaders, Sardar Suchha singh and Jathedar Sardar Vrishpal Singh also echoed similar sentiments.
Mr. M.S. Bitta, (Congress leader and President, All India Anti Terrorist Front) strongly condemned the incident and demanded action the conspirators.
ISO made it clear that, what has started from Delhi will soon spread nationwide and slowly, worldwide as such acts of dividing the society and saints will only harm mankind. The conspiracies against India need to be identified and ended.
Such was the impact of the ISO’s 18 day struggle and Hunger strike of several disciples of Asaramji Bapu that International President of VHP, Mr Ashok Singhal sent in his representative, The Vice president of VHP, Mr O.P. Singhal and also addressed the gathering over phone. He said that the false allegations against Asaramji Bapu shall be investigated and he’s putting in his personal efforts to make that happen. Allegations on saints like Asaramji Bapu, who’s loved by millions is an insult to India. He assured that he has communicated this matter concerned and will make sure that action is taken against conspirators. He requested ISO to end its protest and the Hunger Strike.
ISO also submitted memorandum to The President, The Prime Minister, Home Minister, information and Broadcasting Minister. Keeping regards of Mr. Ashok Singhal’s promise and assurances received from the Ministry, Dharna was suspended; however, ISO still continues to make this a wide spread movement by striving to awaken the people of India about the truth about the incident and the reality of the conspiracy dividing India.
